My husband, Mark, was born on Devil’s Night.
How apropos!
He’s always been a bit of a “lil devil.”
We met on Valentines Day of 1982 and ever since then, we’ve thrown Halloween costume parties in honor of Mark’s birthday. Here are some of the highlight costumes we have reveled in over these past four decades.
Sonny & Cher, and Morticia & Gomez were crowd favorites. You may notice a recurring theme of Mark as a Wizard. That’s his go-to “Happy Place.” He’s an accomplished amateur magician and loves to pull out tricks to entertain our guests.
And he enjoys wearing that golden top whenever possible. It works for all kinds of costumes: prince, rock star, pirate, etc. I found it at a thrift store in Salem, Massachusetts in 1986, and Mark’s definitely gotten a lot of mileage on it!
As for regaling you with stories about Salem, the Witch Museum and setting off firecrackers with a member of the Cabot family, then heading off to Boston to enjoy the Halloween marathon….. that will have to wait until another time.
For now, enjoy your Halloween and stay safe out there.
